Last goodbye

Last night

You visited me in my dream

I heard you singing

And my heart skipped a beat

I hid in a dark place, though

Watching you through the window

From afar

Making sure you couldn’t see me

I felt such a strong desire to reconnect

But I couldn’t find courage to reach out to you

The desolate place you had your piano on

It looked so hostile, it felt too raw

I walked closer to the window

Careful to not get visible

And suddenly my father showed up

Working in the field indifferent to anything

I quickly knelt in fear

I felt horrible cold

And suddenly I knew

Why I will never be able

To open up to you again
